How Art makes the Human Being Happy?

Singing can make the body cope better with stress, dancing can relieve pain and music can prevent high blood pressure. Prescription culture already exists in healthcare. Singing, dancing, painting and listening to music can do great things for health, but what happens in the body?

We react physically and mentally to music, but the individual variations are great. The effects depend on our musician experiences, the context and the current mood.

Often you want to simplify the message and say that “music makes you healthy!”. But it is not quite that simple. In a study of how the pulse changes when listening to music, we saw that someone reacted very much, another not at all, says Dave.

Music Can Reduce Stress:

But for those who like music, “the right kind of music”, that is, right for that particular person, at that time and in that context, can raise or lower the energy level as needed. Think, for example, of how the “right” music on the gym gives you a little more stamina.

It happens in the body when the music winds up / down
When the music speeds up, the heart rate rises, breathing becomes faster and shallower, blood pressure rises, the stress hormone adrenaline increases, the immune system is activated and the body’s own morphine, endorphin, is activated. If it becomes too noisy, the bowel movements become chaotic. If the music winds down, the body reacts in the opposite way: the heart rate drops, breathing becomes slower and deeper. Blood pressure drops and adrenaline and cortisol drops. The stomach also calms down.

Research also shows that music can reduce stress reactions and protect us from the harmful effects of stress. In one study, IBS patients were allowed to participate in either choral singing or a conversation group once a week for six months. The driving group saw an increase in the hormone testosterone, which repairs cells, while the level was unchanged in the discussion group. The content of the protein fibre, which is linked to stress, decreased in the driving group, but increased in the discussion group. Choir singing can thus strengthen our defenses against the harmful effects of stress. Then we do not get sick as easily.

Even one day when we do nothing special, cells break down, so we constantly need to produce new cells. If cultural experiences can provide showers of the key hormones, that’s good, says Dave.

How you are influenced by singing with others:

Music in social form gives a sense of togetherness and community. The heart rate rises and breathing becomes slow and regular with long phrases. Cardiac and pulmonary function are also improved. The level of the “peace and quiet” hormone oxytoxin is rising. The vagus nerve, the body’s own anti-stress system, is stimulated.

Regular choir singing can increase our resilience. Singing often creates a feeling of increased energy and relaxation and then improves the perceived quality of life.

Music can improve our ability to master problems by changing our thoughts. Music can also reinforce negative phenomena such as violence.

Identify your emotions with Music:

The emotional effects of music can come very quickly. This is because the music propagates in the brain both via a slow path to the cerebral cortex and a fast path to the emotional brain, the amygdala. The emotional reactions thus start long before reason has begun its analysis of the music.

An important health factor is that music reinforces emotions, which can help us become better at recognizing our own emotions, so-called emotion differentiation. Dance also improves this ability. It is important for us to be able to receive emotional guidance in different situations and interact well with others.

Poor emotional differentiation can also contribute to a higher risk of high blood pressure at an early age. But we can improve our ability with cultural activities

This is how the psyche is affected by music:

Music reinforces emotions – exactly how is individual. Music at an early age helps the child learn to distinguish between different emotions. Music can improve our ability to master problems by changing our thoughts. Music in social form gives a sense of togetherness and community. Music can also reinforce negative phenomena such as violence. Singing often creates a feeling of increased energy and relaxation. Choral singing often improves perceived quality of life.

In a study at health centers, women with fatigue were allowed to participate in various cultural forms such as singing and dancing for three months. Their self-esteemed health increased, fatigue decreased, and the ability to emotionally differentiate increased.

Music at an early age helps the child learn to distinguish between different emotions. A study of piano-playing children aged 6-8 showed that their cerebral cortex and cerebellum grew, but also the anterior part of the cerebral cortex, which is important precisely for the understanding of emotions. Music alone can not cure diseases, but is used today as a supplement in healthcare in many conditions.

Finnish studies have shown that stroke patients recover faster if they are allowed to listen to self-selected music at an early age. And confused dementia, which can become aggressive during, for example, feeding, “clears up” if the carer sings a song they heard as a child.

Dancing can strengthen mental Health:

In dance, culture is combined with physical activity, which enhances the health effect. Several studies have shown that both cardio and dance increase the volume of the hippocampus – the area of the brain that controls memory and learning. But dance also increases the growth of the structures around the hippocampus, that is, slows down the aging of the brain even more. Dance also improves the sense of balance and the ability to interpret sensory impressions.

It is believed that it is the serotonin and endorphin supplement that stimulates the growth of nerve cells, says Anna Duberg, physiotherapist and dance instructor, who defended her dissertation on how dance affects teenage girls’ mental illness.

More than 100 girls aged 13-18, who had recurrent body aches and / or recurrent anxiety, worry, depression and / or a feeling of exclusion, were drawn to either dance twice a week in a dance hall or control group that did not receive any effort. They always started with aphrodisiac dances and then had different themes, such as show jazz with a focus on joy or street dance with a focus on anger and boundaries. Each dance had a finished choreography, but also free creative parts.

Freedom of performance were an important input. We had a free part, because our own creation is part of strengthening their identity and exploring their ability to use the body to express themselves and feel good, says Anna. PC Games affects the Human Behavior specially in addiction games like PUBG.

This is how we are affected by Dancing:

Heart rate increase strengthens the heart and thus fitness. Muscle strength increases, which gives better body control. Improved function and body awareness increase self-confidence. Better posture means that we dare to take a place in social contexts better. Pain relief. Increased self-confidence and self-confidence. Increased empathic ability: becomes better at interpreting other people’s feelings. Increased conscious presence in the body which reduces stress. Focus on your own experience instead of judging the body. Attention to the body’s signals allows us to better take care of our needs.

The results showed that the dance group after two semesters rated their health higher than the control group. Their symptoms had also diminished, as had the use of painkillers. Dance has now been introduced in municipality for teenage girls with mental illness and several municipalities have followed suit.

Process difficulties with artistic therapies:

Music and dance can also be used as elements of psychotherapy. For music therapy, there is strong scientific support from hundreds of studies in various conditions – it can, among other things, improve the social ability of children with autism. Dance therapy has also been shown to have an effect on, among other things, eating disorders, depression, trauma, ADHD, Parkinson’s disease and dementia.

In expressive art therapy, all artistic expressions are used: image, music, dance and movement, film and photography, theater and text – such as fairy tales, myths and poetry. You get help to deal with difficult life experiences by moving between the different artistic languages and getting in touch with your curiosity and resources.

Our senses work together as a whole. Think, for example, of how music creates inner images, body experiences or stories. It’s not about being “good”. I offer a free play space where you can explore what arises in creation. Expressive art therapist, psychotherapist and doctor of philosophy.

Through the artistic expressions, the client can find other languages to express and express his suffering in, and see things that he does not achieve in a conversation therapy. There are several qualitative case studies of expressive art therapy with good results in, among other things, psychiatry and dementia care, but few larger effect studies so far, despite the form of therapy that has existed since the 1970s.

In Margareta dissertation at New york University, 57 women, who after suffering from gynecological cancer had suffered from mental illness, were drawn into individual therapy for 12 sessions or group therapy eight times. A pilot study showed four current problem areas: body image, sexual health, existential stress and fear of relapse.

Everyone underwent a similar treatment according to a manual, with exercises such as creating a safe place in the tank, painting a picture of their body and next time look at the picture and listen to a short piece of music with a focus on their own resources and emotions. The evaluation after therapy showed for both groups a significant improvement in all areas except sexual health. The effects persisted at follow-up after seven months.
